As a Romanian artist based between the Netherlands and Romania, my photography practice investigates notions of untold stories, cultural identity, post-memory, media representations and truth in photography. As my interest lies primarily in the past, I use my projects as outlets for stories that could be forgotten, while also blurring the line between reality and fiction. In my work, I use photography, sound, book-making and research, which is a very important aspect.
Critical, yet gentle and angry yet caring, my projects have a political layer in the background and an emotional one in the foreground, because I want to facilitate a healing conversation to follow. At the core of what I do is the drive to stitch open wounds of my culture within the safe space of an artistic environment.
