Stories are medicine, but what happens when we critically revisit them? My childhood feels like a perfectly round bubble in which I could dream away while listening to my mother’s voice reading stories to me every night. Through photography, I go back to the tales I have idealized as a child and now criticize as an adult. For this project, my main focus was the edition “La Schtroumpfette” from the Belgian story of the Smurfs, because it embodies a seemingly innocent but male-centered and superficial society.
